Humanitarian Care & Support

Standing with people when circumstances turn against them.

Practical support, relief, care and essential assistance for vulnerable individuals and families.

Introduction

Help that arrives without conditions

The Foundation is committed to providing care, support, relief and assistance to vulnerable individuals and families — practical help at the point where it is genuinely needed.

Hardship is rarely a single event. It arrives as a sequence: an illness, then lost income, then a child out of school. Intervening early keeps a difficult period from becoming a permanent decline.

The Need

Why humanitarian care matters

Families under severe strain are often forced into decisions that cost them far more in the long term than the immediate crisis did. Essential support at the right moment prevents those decisions from having to be made at all.

How that support is given matters as much as whether it is given. Assistance that leaves a person feeling diminished has solved one problem and created another. The Foundation treats the dignity of the people it serves as a condition of the work, not a courtesy attached to it.

Essential support

The basic provisions that hold a household together through a difficult period.

Dignity

Support given in a way that leaves a person’s self-respect intact.

Inclusion

Assistance directed by need, regardless of background or circumstances.

Restored hope

Enough stability for a family to plan again, rather than only cope.

Our Approach

How we approach this work

Four commitments that shape how this work is carried out.

Values guiding this work

  • Compassion
  • Respect and Dignity
  • Equality and Inclusion
See all eight core values
  1. Need decides

Support is directed by circumstance, not by connection, background or recommendation.

  2. Respect is not optional

The manner in which help is offered is treated as part of the help itself.

  3. Look past the immediate

Wherever possible, essential assistance is paired with something that reduces the chance of the same crisis recurring.

  4. Strengthen the community around the household

Families recover more reliably where the community around them is also supported.
